Leona Lewis And Take That Claim Record Breaking Chart GloryDecember 8, 2008
![]() Lewis's cover of 'Run' by Snow Patrol, which was released following public pressure, sold 133,591 copies in seven days, more than double the previous record holder. In what was otherwise a quiet week in the singles chart, Lewis's cover toppled Take That's 'Greatest Day' from the top spot But the reformed boy band also enjoyed success of their own, claiming the number one position on the album chart with 'The Circus'. The group's fifth studio album became the fastest selling release of the year and third fastest of all time after shifting 432,000 copies. Only Oasis's 'Be Here Now' and 'X&Y' by Coldplay have sold more copies in their opening week. Elsewhere on the album chart, Britney Spears' 'Circus' was a new entry at number four.
