The Killers Beat Guns N' Ross To Number OneDecember 1, 2008
The Killers have held off the most anticipated record of the 21st century to top the UK album charts with 'Day & Age'.
The Las Vegas band's third album comfortably outsold Guns N' Roses 'Chinese Democracy', which was released last Monday after a fourteen year wait. The album, which is reported to have cost frontman Axl Rose $2million, was a new entry at number two. Elsewhere, former X Factor star Rhydian was another new entry at number three while Kanye West's '808s and Heartbreak' charted at number eleven. In the singles chart, Take That stormed to the top spot with 'Greatest Day', the first track from their new album 'Circus'. Britney Spears climbed to number seven with 'Womanizer' while T.I. moved up to number three with 'Live Your Life'.
