Paul McCartney: 'I Almost Paid 1p For Radiohead's In Rainbows'

Paul McCartney: 'I Almost Paid 1p For Radiohead's In Rainbows'Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he almost downloaded Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’ for the minimum price of one pence – but had a last minute change of heart.

“I was thinking of downloading it and giving them my 1p and telling all my friends I paid ten quid for it – I think a lot of people did that too,” the former Beatle said.

Radiohead allowed fans to name what price they wanted to pay for 2007's ‘In Rainbows’, ranging from one pence to £100.

Speaking at a press conference in London, Sir Paul spoke candidly about music downloading – and said he didn’t mind if people paid nothing for tracks.

“We’ve gone through vinyl, tape cassettes, CDs and downloads, and to me it’s sort of all the same, except now it’s this weird thing where people don’t pay for it,” he said.

“It is a bit of a surprise but I don’t mind actually, it’s interesting.

“It all kind of works out, the Radiohead thing of paying what you think it works. I think it’s a funny idea really; it’s quite funny.”
