Madonna Unveils Malawi Film Alongside Michael MooreAugust 4, 2008
Madonna presented her film documentary about orphans in Malawi to movie fans at the Traverse City Film Festival over the weekend.
The pop star was joined by director Michael Moore at the festival, which takes place in Northern Michigan. She was inspired to make I Am Because We Are after her recent high profile adoption of the Malawian baby, David Banda. Speaking at the festival, Madonna, who was accompanied by her daughter, Lourdes, said there was “something poetic about coming back to the place where I used to come for holidays." Moore also praised the singer, saying she does “much out of the glare of the lights to make the world a better place.” Madonna first unveiled the film alongside her husband, director Guy Ritchie, at the Cannes festival in May.
