Madina Lake Bassist Matthew Leone Beaten Unconscious During Street AttackJuly 1, 2010
Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone has had to have a third of his skull removed after intervening in a domestic dispute.
Leone was left unconscious after he tried to come to the rescue of a woman who was being beaten by her husband on a street in Chicago. In a statement, his twin brother and the band's singer Nathan said Matthew was “jumped” from behind by the man after they called the police. “This guy did things I can’t even type,” he said. “After words, he and his beaten wife left Matthew unconcious on the street. “Matthew is in the hospital with a third of his skull removed as we wait for the swelling in his brain to go down. “I’d rather not share any additional information at this time besides the fact that he acted as a hero (as he always would in any of these situations) and is paying a horrific price.” Tributes have been flooding in from fans on the band's webstie, as well as social networks. Madina Lake are due to play the Sonisphere festival later this month, before touring in August. At present, the future of these dates is unclear.
