Heaven & Hell Axe UK & European Festivals As Ronnie James Dio Battles Cancer

May 5, 2010
Heaven & Hell Axe UK & European Festivals As Ronnie James Dio Battles CancerHeavy metal titans Heaven & Hell have cancelled their entire summer schedule due to singer Ronnie James Dio's ongoing battle with cancer.

67-year-old Dio was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November 2009, however having made progress the band booked in a series of UK European summer shows.

In a statement, the group confirmed their shows at Bloodstock's tenth anniversary and Sonisphere in Switzerland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey have been axed.

They said: “ We have to announce that all forthcoming Heaven & Hell European shows have been cancelled as sadly Ronnie isn’t well enough to tour this summer. We hope that everyone understands and want to thank fans and industry colleagues for their continuing support at this time.”

Get well soon Ronnie.
