The Who's Roger Daltrey Slams The X FactorNovember 19, 2010
The Who frontman Roger Daltrey is one of a number of musicians to slam the X Factor and its mainstream music.
Daltrey believes that the music industry is in crisis - and that it is is down to Simon Cowell and talent shows like the X Factor. "We really need to break away from The X Factor and American Idol - that Simon Cowell thing. I really think the music industry will beat this slump and come back stronger," Daltrey said as he addressed young hopefuls at Brighton's Institute Of Modern Music on Wednesday (November 17). He added: "Groups like The Who, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles wouldn't have made it past the audition stage, let alone be shown on TV. That's the joke of it." Meanwhile, The Who will appear alongside Debbie Harry and Richard Ashcroft at a charity gig for Cancer Research. (by Holly Frith) See also: Roger Daltrey Announces 'Tommy' UK Tour (27.04.2011)
