Pete Doherty Glastonbury Blood Painting Up For AuctionJune 22, 2010
A painting of Glastonbury by Pete Doherty has gone up for auction ahead of this weekend's festival.
The singer painted the piece following a row with his management shortly before he was due to play the event two years ago. Doherty has described it as “probably the best painting I’ve ever done”. “The finished result is something to look at and cherish, like writing a song lyric, carving something, anything made out of nothing you can call your own,” he added. The online auction opened yesterday (June 21) and is due to run until July 1. Proceeds from the auction of the print will go to the charity, War Child. Founded in 1993, War Child works in Iraq, Afghanistan, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo to protect children whose lives are affected by war.
