Simon Cowell's Haiti Charity Single Storms UK ChartsThe Simon Cowell-organised charity single for the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti has gone straight to the top of the UK singles chart.

The song, a cover of 'Everybody Hurts' by R.E.M, sold 453,000 copies in its first week, becoming the fastest-selling charity single this century.

The all-star release features the likes of Mariah Carey, JLS, Robbie Williams and Take That.

Owl City's 'Fireflies' is at number two in the chart, while 'If We Ever Meet Again' by Timbaland ft Katy Perry is at number three.

The top-five is completed by Alicia Keys' 'Empire State Of Mind (II)' and 'Don't Stop Believin' by the cast of Glee at numbers four and five respectively.

Meanwhile, in the album chart, Keys' 'The Element Of Freedom' stayed at number one for a second week.

Massive Attack were a new entry at number six with their critically acclaimed new album 'Heligoland'.
