Smashing Pumpkins To Play Benefit Gig For Madina Lake's Matthew LeoneJuly 21, 2010
Smashing Pumpkins have announced details of a benefit concert for Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone.
The band, fronted by Billy Corgan, are set to play Metro in Chicago on July 27. In June, Leone was brutally attacked when he attempted to come to the rescue of a woman who was being beaten by her husband on a street in Chicago. He was admitted to hospital, where doctors had to remove a third of his skull to allow the swelling on his brain go down, and is due to have further surgery. Tickets for the gig, which go on sale today (July 21) at midday, will be issued via a raffle. Individuals can enter the raffle as many times as they wish for $10 each entry. Each winner will receive two tickets to the concert. There will also be a very limited amount of balcony VIP and soundcheck VIP tickets available, starting at $100 each. All proceeds from the raffle and concert will go to the Matthew Leone Fund at Sweet Relief, which helps musicians who are facing illness, disability, or age-related problems.
