Michael Jackson 'Offered London O2 Arena Residency'November 10, 2008
Michael Jackson has been offered the opportunity to perform a run of shows at the O2 Arena in London, US media reports claim.
But the singer, who turned 50 earlier this year, is yet to discuss agree on any firm dates for the performances. A source told Billboard that there was a "standing offer with no expiration" in place from venue manager AEG. Should a deal be agreed, it’s likely Jackson will perform an extended residency at the arena similar to those by Prince and the Spice Girls last year. The reports come just a week after Jackson denied rumors that he would reunite with his brothers in the Jackson 5. Instead, the singer said he was busy in the studio working on “new and exciting projects that I look forward to sharing with my fans in concert soon." Despite persistent calls to reform, Jackson has always distanced himself from rejoining the Jackson 5, preferring to focus on his own career. The singer is expected to release a new studio album, which features production from Ne-Yo and Will.I.Am, next year. Last month, he was reported to have told a fan that he planned a 30 date world tour. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Michael Jackson Heal The World Lawsuit Resolved (20.04.2011)
