September 16, 2010
The Charlatans Drummer Jon Brookes Stops Breathing During GigThe Charlatans drummer Jon Brookes collapsed and stopped breathing at a gig in Philadelphia last night (September 15).

Brookes was resuscitated by a doctor who was in the audience at Johnny Brenda's before beings taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

In a statement, the band said the drummer had been given a CAT scan and was responding well to treatment.

“He has now been transferred to a larger hospital in the city for further tests, although his condition is said to be improving and doctors believe there will be no long term effects on his health,” they added.

The Charlatans have advised fans to check their website regarding upcoming gigs. They are currently scheduled to play Cabaret Musee Juste Pour Rire in Montreal tonight (September 16).

Brookes' collapse comes in the week that the band released their latest studio album, 'Who We Touch'.
