Leona Lewis Holds Off Kings Of Leon To Extend Chart ReignDecember 15, 2008
Leona Lewis's cover of 'Run' by Snow Patrol held off Kings of Leon to claim a second week at number one on the UK singles chart.
Kings of Leon's 'Use Somebody' had to settle for second spot, while Lewis also enjoyed success in the album chart. Her recently released debut album, 'Spirit', which features bonus material, climbed to number two. But the former X Factor winner is likely to see her reign end this week as this year's champion, Alexandra Burke, releases her debut single, 'Hallelujah'. The London-born singer's cover of the Leonard Cohen song is available as a digital-download now, and will be released on CD next Wednesday (December 17th). As previously reported, Burke was crowned the winner of The X Factor on Saturday. Take That held on to the album top spot with 'The Circus'.
