There's an old man in our town
And I guess he's been around
For years and years
At least it seems that way.
Wrinkled hands and rocking chair
Growing old just sitting there
Every year he had the sing
For youth to say.
Youth only happens to you one time
An so I've been told
If you should miss it in your youngtime
Have it when you're old.
Now there's no old man sitting there
Just an empty rocking chair
But the things he said
Will always be around.
Someday when I'm old and grey
Maybe youth can come my way
I'll be proud to be
The old man in our town.
And I'll say youth only happens to you one time
An so I've been told
If you should miss it in your youngtime
Have it when you're old...

Well today, I started lovin' you again
Now I'm right back where I've really always been
I got over you just long enough to let my heartaches mend
Then today I started lovin' you again.
What a fool I was to think I could get back
With only these few million tears I've cried
I should have known the world is too short to come
And the cryin' time for me has just begun.
Well today, I started lovin' you again
Now I'm right back where I've really always been
I got over you just long enough to let my heartaches mend
Then today I started lovin' you again...
