Kanye West Films 'Apocalyptic' Video For New Single 'Power'July 30, 2010
The video for Kanye West’s new single ‘Power’ has been described as “kind of apocalyptic” by its director.
The video, which is set to debut on the rapper’s website, features one continuous shot of West with a chain around his neck. As the camera draws back, West is revealed surrounded by nude female attendants, while an executioner stands behind him. “It had this very dark, personal conflict within it,” artist and director Marco Brambilla told the New York Times. “Because of his own concept of celebrity and his own notoriety, he’s keenly self-aware of all these things. And it all came out in the music.” West contacted Brambilla about the video, and the director said he was attracted to the project because it was “very personal”. ‘Power’ is the first track to be taken from West’s as-yet-untitled new album. The rapper previewed songs from the record at Facebook’s offices and Twitter HQ earlier this week. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Katy Perry, Kanye West Perform 'ET' On American Idol (22.04.2011)
