Scott Weiland Handed Jail Term For Drink DrivingApril 29, 2008
Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has been sentenced to eight days in jail for drink driving.
Weiland’s lawyer entered a plea of no contest to a single charge of driving under the influence of alcohol on his clients behalf yesterday (April 28th). It is the former Velvet Revolver singer’s second conviction for DUI in nearly four years and stems from an arrest on a ramp to a Los Angeles freeway in November last year. As well as receiving a fine, Weiland has been placed under four years unsupervised probation and been told to enter an 18-month alcohol program. Weiland will begin his sentence following a restitution hearing in court on May 28th. It’s likely that Weiland’s jail term will affect his upcoming reunion tour with the Stone Temple Pilots which is due to begin on May 17th. The band’s 65-date US tour will be their first since Weiland left Velvet Revolver acrimoniously earlier this month. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Scott Weiland To Release Autobiography (17.09.2010)
