Pete Doherty, The Kooks Join Silent Charity Christmas SingleDecember 2, 2010
Pete Doherty and The Kooks are among the artists who have joined a campaign to get a song featuring nothing but silence to Christmas number one.
The campaign, dubbed Cage Against The Machine, aims to get John Cages’'s '4'33' to the top of the festive chart. The 'song' will also feature Enter Shikari, UNKLE, Orbital, Billy Bragg, Dan Le Sac, Reverend Jon McClure, Crystal Fighters and Mr Hudson. The artists are expected to gather at a recording studio in London on Monday (December 6) to record the track. The single will be released on Wall of Sound Records on December 13. All the proceeds from sales will go to five charities - The British Tinnitus Association (BTA), Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy, Youth Music and Sound And Music. '4'33' is currently 8/1 with bookies to take the top spot later this month, while the eventual winner of The X Factor is favourite.
