Depeche Mode Complete Work On New Studio AlbumDecember 15, 2008
Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan has revealed that the band have completed work on their new album.
The as-yet-untitled record, which will be the follow-up to 2005's 'Playing The Angel', is due for release in the new year. "We’ve completed the record. There might be a couple of bits and pieces we’ve got to clean up, but I feel really good about the fact that we’re finished,” Gahan told Pop and Hiss. The frontman added he thought the band had made a “great record”. Depeche Mode have recorded more songs for their new album than any other record but would still limit the tracklist to twelve compositions, Gahan said. When asked to describe the album's influences, Gahan replied: "I feel like [the record] is [about] looking outside and a yearning for somehow coming together. The world is changing. "Watching Obama getting elected was great. We watched it on TV in Santa Barbara and I get goosebumps thinking about that still. "It’s going to take a long time, but I think some of that same feeling, that sentiment [of hope] is in the work." (by Jason Gregory) See also: Lady Gaga: 'Depeche Mode Are So Underrated' (03.06.2010)
