Midnight Oil, Kings Of Leon, Coldplay Set For Australian Wildfire Benefit GigsFebruary 24, 2009
Midnight Oil, Coldplay and Kings Of Leon are to host special gigs to help raise money for victims of the recent Australian wildfires.
Kings of Leon and Midnight Oil, who are reforming for the occasion, will perform in Melbourne on March 14th. Wolfmother, Gabriella Cilmi and Jack Johnson will also perform in the city, while Coldplay will perform at the Sydney Cricket Ground on the same day. Midnight Oil's frontman Peter Garrett, now Australia's environment minister, told the BBC the concerts would "give people affected by the terrible events what they dearly need". The band last performed together in 2005 in aid of victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami. It's hoped the Red Cross bushfire appeal will raise A$4million for victims of the fires, which have killed at least 210 people in the state of Victoria.
