. . .

Shock disbelief stained the blackest of mornings
Lost in a scene from this nightmare come true
This wasn't meant to be the end of the story
Now that it's done, the pain lingers on in the world

Life was an emotional knife
It cut the flesh, it hit the bone, it made reality a web of lies
Life was a perpetual high
Up on the wire without a net, he couldn't balance so he took a dive

When vegas called he got the message far away
They begged this worn out king to play
The mighty fall, inside the measure of the day
It's pitiful, it's all in vain

Life and its unbearable fire
The night his mother passed away, he poured his soul into her funeral pyre
Life, through unforgettable eyes
For though he tried to face the dark, he lost the battle but he never dies

He had it all somehow he let it slip away
Much of his death is unexplained
Now just a memory shines out beyond the grave
Remembers all that now remains

. . .

Listen to the sound of the wind in the trees
Falling down below like a lost melody
Echoes that resound in the depths of my soul
Beckon the blood to flow

Listen to the cries of the wind in the eaves
Every nerve exposed, only one remedy
Deep within the vaults of the castle I roam
And wait for the light to go

I'm burning like a fire in the dark tonight
She put the knife through my tender heart
Pyres in the dark tonight as I bleed

All I need is shelter from the night
The love I buried deep within her eyes had passed and gone
All I need is shelter from the light
The quest within for peace, a thousand years, with a love to last eternity

Listen to the sounds of a frost covered dream
Children of the night whisper softly to me
Caught against the white transylvanian snow
Calling me down below

Listen to the sighs you were scared to believe
Haunted by the ghost that my love never sees
Searching every night that some day she might know
Just how the feeling grows

. . .

We fly the flag of freedom
We swore to crush all tyranny
They speak their words of treason
We silence all such villainy

History shall honour we the brave
Born to fight as heroes not be slaves
We do or die
Destiny take not these words in vein
Men will curse they were not here this day
To testify

Sunrise, sunrise
Clawing back its timeless reach
Scores the black horizon
Sleepless sunrise
Paws the light in skyward breach
Cuts the night in silence
Seize the day

The dawning sunlight carries
A ray of hope to every man
Across the fields and valleys
To where a hundred thousand stand

Crispin's day will live forever more
Brave were those who fell at agincourt
The dearly loved
This shall be remembered as the place
Few defeated many by the grace
Of god above

This fight, this day unceasing
This light forever, seize the day
This battle, this unending feeling
This spirit of the moment leads the way

. . .

Just like a celluloid dream she burnt on acetate
Stealing every last scene just smouldering away
Tonight the radio said that now you've passed and gone
As something deep inside breaks, your memory lingers on

The face of the century
This cruel, twisted destiny
A fatal intensity
That crossed beyond control
For what it appears to be
Is life taken needlessly
But how much you mean to me
God only knows

Tender is the night, I'm lost on the interstate
Tender is the dream with nothing to say
Tendrils of light covered whimsical vanity
Render the white to grey
Tender is the night and soft is the tourniquet
Tender is the theme of tears in the rain
Slender is the knife on the wings of insanity
Taking your life away

They made a suicide claim with no one else to blame
I know you must have cried out for help that never came
On just how many broken dreams you built your life upon
Remains a mystery and now your suffering has gone

The face of the century
This beautiful entity
A fatal intensity
That crossed beyond control
For what it appears to be
Is life taken needlessly
But how much you mean to me
God only knows

As cruel as love is

. . .

The light has gone
Now it fades as just a memory and the shadows run
From the petrified muses I gazed upon
In pain, in such an anguish, frozen lives undone
By the gorgon medusa, the soulless one, sealed their fate

This silent throng
So ordained by destiny, are now the lifeless ones
In the name of her sisters, revenge has come
She slays with such an anger, serpent-headed one
She's the last of the titans, her will be done, feel the rage

Caught in the mirrored reflection I see her
Shielding my eyes from the deadliest gaze
Many have come where rock remains
Testament here to medusa
There is a way only now do I see it
Lifeless grotesques of the galleried slain
Carelessly met their end this way
Playing a part in medusa's game

She draws me on
"dare to look upon my face, you fool, your time has come
"I'm the terror no darkness can shield you from
"prepare to meet your maker mortal, turn to stone"
Let the shield be my eyes, soak my blade in blood, into the fray

Caught in the mirrored reflection, I see her
Shielding my eyes from the deadliest gaze
Many have come where rock remains
Testament here to medusa
There is a way only now do I see it
Lifeless grotesques of the galleried slain
It doesn't have to end this way
Breaking the rules of medusa's game

. . .

A golden silence reigned against the din
Jason spoke of many things
The seas of anguish, the lands of mystery
That none before had ever seen

At the edge of the world, earth shaking boulders
Fall from the sky like a storm cloud of rain
As the saga unfolds, fate stirs the cauldron
Talos awaits until then, when

Drawn by the fleece of gold
Legends and stories told
Of the hydra
Ground by these teeth of stone
Destiny calling home
To the hydra

He tore like canvas, as echoes from within
Cursed the ropes that cut his skin
He turned the argo's, prow into the wind
And laid a course for talasyn

For athena looked down, over their shoulders
Gentle protector and guardian of fate
To a strange land they came, voyage weary soldiers
Finding themselves face to fate

. . .

Where the last of your tears drops in the ocean
Do the dreams you conceal guide the way?
Is a past full of fear, bound by emotions?
Till a time when the sun might turn those winter skies to summer nights

How the last hundred years passed in a moment
How the sepia scenes fade to grey
Was the great lovers' dream crowned by devotion?
As they climbed on a comet's tail across the sky that never dies

For tonight is a beautiful night for love
You and i, like the stars, collide together
What a night, what a beautiful night for love
Catch the moon as it falls into your hands, like precious sand

From the rain battered hills, oh, I heard you calling
On the mist covered fields where we lay
Then at last you appeared, caught for a moment
For the light that I held for you through endless night still burns bright

. . .

Outside the moon is playing on star-like timpani
I feel the gloom embracing this twilight symphony
And still the brightest comet pales in the light from your eyes

My love, I stand before you, transformed in masquerade
I have become this creature, maimed by a twist of fate
The opera house was burning, they thought I'd died, I survived

Darling sleep, be at peace with your dreams tonight
Let their bittersweet threads weave the music of light

Too late, this taste for romance, refrains of wasted hope
Too late, too late, to take this starring role
Betrayed, this faithless omen, berate this cameo
Too late, too late, this face is scarred enough

There can be no escaping, how can I set you free?
I pray that your forgiveness might find its way to me
See through this apparition, come look behind this disguise

My christine, you are more than my world could mean
You've become my obsession, my reason, my life

. . .

Out in the streets, where the rumours flew
The second coming of "you know who"
But still they doubt as they stare at the face to believe
Deep in the woods, long after dark
Falling through the stratosphere, shining like a star
They shoot to kill, for the questions come later, you see

Their god is logic in which nothing is divisible
They stone the fake as he performs another miracle
Lying in the gutter with his life-blood spilling again

It's a world growing colder
Life is a twin bladed knife
Every child born a soldier
Fights but is blind to see the light

Beneath the surface lurks a nightmare or two
So dies a whale that broke the golden rule
She trusted man, in return she's torn from the sea
Treasure the loch secretly keeps
Rises from its peaceful primeval depth sleep
Two thousand years to a circus cage tragedy

Are we laboratory torturers of innocence?
Or are we circumstantial victims of our own pretence?
Killers of a world, systematically eaten away

Children of night are the dreamers, carried away on a merciful sleep
Let them slumber on, for tomorrow comes the day
Unwanted life is the reason, dawn and the gun finds them dead on the streets
Naked in the sun, now the pain has gone away
But I don't understand why only man brings suffering of this kind
Are we so blind we can't see the light?

It's not too late, we could break down the fear
But choose indifference as the end draws near
Not long to wait, the "piece de resistance" is here
Chemical bombs, ashes to dust
Every living creature dies, buildings ain't touched
It's not abuse, they were never developed to use

I said a pointless civil war, a terrorist without a cause
It's been so long that he's forgotten what he's fighting for
Everybody screams, only no one's listening again

It's a world on his shoulders
Now better run for your life
It's a frightful disclosure
Search in your hearts to see the light

. . .

Now the grain fields are fallow, as the dawn weaves her spell
Threads of gold light, this sceptred of realms
For the plough blades were shallow where the last blossom fell
When the wind blows it whispers "farewell"

There's a place where the mighty honour justice and peace
This homeland where the heart is, 'decries not the beast'
Where the green fields and valleys meet the wide-open seas
This proud land where the heart is, defines them to me

Can a man's life be measured by the good he embraced?
Are the years just the lines on his face?
Must the seasons be treasured as we slowly decay?
When the love in a heart never fades

. . .
