Arcade Fire: People Expected Us To Fail With 'The Suburbs'December 23, 2010
Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler has revealed that everybody expected the band to fail with ‘The Suburbs’.
The band admitted that their expectation of the album's success was low. "People expect you to fail, rather than have this slow growth. But it's been great. Everything came up roses, basically. Which was a real relief, because every day people sell less and less records," Butler told BBC News. He added: "I was a big fan of The Cure in high school, and they had seven records before they were really at the kind of size that we're at now. It's good to keep that in perspective in the band." Meanwhile, Arcade Fire will join The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys at next year's Benicassim festival in Spain. (by Holly Frith) See also: Arcade Fire Win Big At Canada's Juno Awards (28.03.2011)
