Arcade Fire's Win Butler: 'I Don't Envy Barack Obama's Job Right Now'November 25, 2010
Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler has said he doesn't envy US president Barack Obama's current political troubles.
Obama faired badly in the mid-term elections earlier this month, meaning it is now harder for him to pass new policies. "I definitely don’t envy his job right now. He’s been able to get a lot of things through that are maybe a little more subtle. The main thing for me is a lot of the people working on Haiti policy are competent – that was definitely not the case under Bush," Butler said to the Metro. On a possible swing to the right at the re-election, he added: "It always happens. It’s kind of like worrying about the weather. Most of the really far-right Tea Party candidates lost this last election. The Obama election showed, if anything, the country as a whole is more moderate than it was eight years ago." Meanwhile, Arcade Fire are set to record new material over Winter after they have completed their current UK tour. (by Holly Frith) See also: Arcade Fire Win Big At Canada's Juno Awards (28.03.2011)
