The Futureheads To Headline GlastonburyMarch 17, 2008
The Futureheads are staging an impressive comeback just a year after being dropped from their label, headlining the John Peel stage at this year’s Glastonbury festival.
Singer Barry Hyde told the BBC that it was ‘an honour’ to be asked to play. The John Peel stage was renamed in the late music proponent’s honour following his untimely death in 2004. “For us to come back a year after being dropped and headline his tent will be such an amazing, gratifying experience,” Hyde said. The Futureheads will also perform at V festival, T in the Park and Fuji Rock in Japan this summer. These latest line-up details come just days after Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis announced that demand for tickets was down on last year in the absence of any big names headlining. The Futureheads will undoubtedly take the opportunity to showcase their new album ‘This Is Not The World’, set for release in May. Ticket registration for the festival, which will be held in Somerset from 27th to 29th June, has now closed. (by Hazel Sheffield) See also: The Futureheads To Release Christmas Single (23.11.2010)
