Busted Members Set For 10million Pound Court CaseFebruary 26, 2008
Two musicians who say they were in the original line up for boy band Busted have launched a £10million court case against the band.
Ki McPhail and Owen Doyle claim that they have not received royalty payments for four of the bands songs, including, ‘What I Go To School For’ and ‘Year 3000’. The pair claim to have co-written the songs with former Busted members James Bourne and Matt Willis in a previous group called Termites. A High Court in London was told that the four were signed to a record label in March 2001 and changed their name to Busted in April 2001. However, McPhail and Doyle claim that they were subsequently dropped from the group later that year and replaced by Charlie Simpson. Both men told the court that they were “under pressure” to release their claim to the material and that they felt misrepresented at the time. According to the BBC, the hearing is expected to last 15 days. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Busted Recording New Album Without Charlie Simpson (18.10.2010)
