R.E.M. will headline the Oxegen Festival this summer, it has been announced.

The rock veterans are warming-up for the release of their new album, "Accelerate", and are now mapping-out a live schedule.

They will appear alongside The Chemical Brothers, Hot Chip, Kings Of Leon, Justice, Aphex Twin and Alabama 3 at the event.

The Raconteurs, Ian Brown, Interpol, The Fratellis and Counting Crows are also on the bill for the Irish gathering.

Oxegen takes place on July 11+12+13, at the Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, County Kildare, Ireland.

As previously reported, R.E.M. will also headline T In The Park in Scotland in June. They play a one-off show at the Royal Albert Hall in London in April.

"Accelerate" is due for release on March 31.
