Paul McCartney Asks India To Declare National Vegetarian Day

January 4, 2011
Paul McCartney Asks India To Declare National Vegetarian DayPaul McCartney has called on India's prime minister to declare a national Vegetarian Day.

In a letter to Manmohan Singh, the former Beatle said the event would help save animals, as well as protect the environment.

He said a Vegetarian Day “would be a celebration of life”, according to the Press Association.

Sir Paul, a longtime vegetarian, recently wrote an open letter urging the publicto think seriously about becoming a vegetarian in order to control global warming.

He said that the meat industry was one of the biggest contributors to climate change.
