Cheryl Cole Storms UK Singles ChartOctober 31, 2010
Cheryl Cole has gone straight in at number one on the UK singles chart with 'Promise This'.
The track sold over 157,000 copies in its first week, making it the biggest-selling non-charity single of the year so far. Only Helping Haiti’s 'Everybody Hurts', in aid of Haiti’s earthquake victims, had more week one sales with 450,000. Rihanna’s 'Only Girl (In The World)' was a new entry at number two, selling 126,000 copies. Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot said: "To have two such phenomenally strong singles in one week is exceptional – congratulations to Cheryl and Rihanna." Elsewhere on the singles countdown, Nelly’s 'Just A Dream' climbed to number eight from last week’s number eleven. In the album chart, Kings Of Leon stayed at number one for a second week with 'Come Around Sundown'. Last year’s X Factor winner Joe McElderry was at number three with his debut LP 'Wide Awake', while Taylor Swift’s second album 'Speak Now' charted at number six.
