October 25, 2010
Reggae Star Gregory Isaacs Dies Aged 59Reggae star Gregory Isaacs has died at the age of 59, it's been confirmed.

The singer passed away at his home in London on Monday morning (October 25) following a long battle with lung cancer.

His wife told BBC News he was “well-loved by everyone” and that he would be “greatly missed by his family and friends”.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1951, Isaacs started his career in the short-lived three-piece The Concords, before going solo.

His most notable release was the 1982 album 'Night Nurse', which charted at number 32 in the UK.

The star was diagnosed with lung cancer last year. He recently embarked on a journey around Jamaica.
