Twilight actor Robert Pattinson has begun working on his debut solo album, according to reports.

The 24-year-old is understood to have begun recording at a studio in Los Angeles recently.

But the session apparently proved less than successful after the actor invited several of his friends into the studio.

“He ended up goofing off all night with his buddies and getting drunk,” a source told The National Enquirer. “Rob mostly joked around with the musicians and kept them there for hours."

Pattinson apparently failed to record a single song during the session.

The actor, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the hit vampire franchise, has spoken in the past of his interest in music.

One of his compositions also featured on the soundtrack to the original Twilight film. In August, a video of him performing live appeared online.
