Kanye West Breaks Silence Over New Film-Noir MovieSeptember 15, 2010
Kanye West has spoken for the first time about a movie that will accompany the release of his new album.
Runaway, which is 40 minutes long, was shot in Prague last month. In an interview with New York magazine, West said: "It's the story of a phoenix fallen to Earth, and I make her my girlfriend, and people discriminate against her and eventually she has to burn herself alive and go back to her world. "I've been feeling the idea of the phoenix. It's been in my heart for a while. It's maybe parallel to my career.” Referring to his incident with Taylor Swift at last year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), West added: “I threw a Molotov cocktail on my career last year, in a way, and I had to come back as a better person." The rapper also said that he had recovered from the “shell-shocking” outburst, which saw him interrupt the singer's acceptance speech. As previously reported, West made an incident-free comeback at the 2010 MTV VMAs in Los Angeles on Sunday (September 12). His as-yet-untitled new album is due to be released in November.
