Guns N' Roses Half Hour Late For Leeds Festival SlotAugust 30, 2010
Guns N' Roses managed to make it onto the Leeds Festival stage only half an hour late on Sunday evening (August 29).
Axl Rose and his stand ins took to the stage at 9.30pm but still managed to lay the blame for having to play a shorter set with the festival organisers. "We would like to play a few more songs for you tonight,” he said, “but someone is telling us the show's over." The band finished their set with Paradise City as their encore and left the stage after a brief bow and telling the promoters to “f**k you.” The incident follows their hour late arrival to the stage at Reading, where organisers were forced to cut the band's sound at midnight (BST), leaving drummer Frank Ferrer to lead the crowd with a drum-only rendition of 'Paradise City'. Festival director Melvin Benn had warned the band about breaking the festival's curfew earlier in the week. Rose ended the band's set in the pit thanking members of the crowd, before staging a sit down protest. The set list for the Leeds show:
