Sir Paul McCartney has been presented with the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song at the White House. The former Beatle was given the award by President Barack Obama, who said he had "helped to lay the soundtrack for an entire generation". 
Radiohead drummer Phil Selway has announced details of his debut solo album. The album, entitled 'Familial', will be released on August 30.

Rock veterans Def Leppard have lent their support to a space hopper world record event in their native Sheffield. 'Bounce For Sheffield' takes place at Don Valley Bowl on July 25th and will see thousands of people bounce on space hoppers simultaneously in a bid to steal the Guiness World Record from an event in Mexico. 
The Hard Rock Café in London is to launch a “Meat Free Monday” menu in honour of a charity setup by Sir Paul McCartney. The diverse menu will include choices ranging from a Linda McCartney Vegetarian Burger to a selection of healthy drinks.
