Paramore have knocked Madonna off the top of the UK album chart with their third long-player 'Brand New Eyes'. The Tennessee emo outfit ousted Madge's greatest hits collection after just one week, scoring their first ever UK number one in the process. 
The Maccabees played a triumphant sold out show at London’s Brixton Academy on Saturday night and spoke of how it was the highpoint of their career so far. Talking exclusively to Gigwise lead singer Orlando Weeks said “Friends of mine have almost only been coming to see us all these years because they thought that one day we’d get to play Brixton Academy so it’s a massive achievement for us.” 
Following their low key warm-up show at the Echoplex on Friday, Thom Yorke's new band performed the first of two sold-out shows at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles last night (October 4). The show saw Yorke, Flea, Nigel Godrich, Mauro Refosco and Joey Waronker perform the Radiohead man's solo album, 'The Eraser', in its entirety for the opening part of the set. 
Stereophonics have unveiled details of a 2010 arena tour in support of their new album. The Welsh/Argentinian rockers will undertake seven date jaunt kicking off at Newcastle Arena on March 1 and winding up at London's O2 Arena on March 10. 
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of theft after thousands of pounds worth of instruments were stolen from Noah And The Whale in Manchester. The incident took place last Wednesday (September 30) following the band's performance at Club Academy. 
The Enemy's Tom Clarke has criticised BBC Radio 1's decision to overhaul its music playlists in an attempt to attract a younger audience. The new criteria – which places emphasis on commercial acts - was introduced earlier this year after it emerged that the radio station's average listener was aged 33. 
Robbie Williams gig at the BBC Electric Proms on October 20 will be broadcast simultaneously in cinemas around the world. 200 cinemas across Europe will present the gig live in High Definition, while delayed screenings will be shown in Australia and South Africa. 
The Strokes' Julian Casablancas says he never acted like a control freak over his bandmates. The US group have been on hiatus since 2006 while each member embarks on alternative projects.
