Blur bassist Alex James has revealed that he passed on an opportunity to sign Coldplay because he thought they were “ordinary”. James went to watch the band in the late-90s with an interest in signing them to a label he ran alongside Damien Hurst and Joe Strummer. 
Faces have no plans to embark on a reunion tour in 2009, a spokesperson for singer Rod Stewart has said. On Tuesday, guitarist Ronnie Wood was quoted as saying that he and Stewart had record an album's worth of material in Los Angeles over Christmas. 
Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos has described Jonathan Ross's return to the BBC after a three-month suspension as “spectacular”. Ross filmed the first episode of his eponymous chat show, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, yesterday (January 22nd). 
British singer Adele has revealed that she has written a song for the Pussycat Dolls. The singer, who is nominated at next month's Grammy Awards, said she had even planned a video for the track. 
Katy Perry has said she would “rather die” than take a vow of celibacy. The singer was quoted as saying this week that she had decided to give up kissing in 2009 following her split from Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy. 
US rapper Kanye West has compared 50 Cent's frequent insults and taunting behaviour to being spat on. West said he found it hard to ignore the rapper's derogatory comments, which in the past have included allegations about his sexuality. 
M.I.A has spoken about her Oscar nomination for Best Song for Slumdog Millionaire. The singer, who wrote 'O...Saya' alongside the film's composer A.R. Rahman, said the recognition was “a great honour”. 
Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has called claims actor Tom Cruise confronted his brother, Liam, in an German hotel “pure nonsense”. Tabloid reports this week claimed Cruise approached Liam Gallagher at the Regent Hotel in Berlin - where they were both said to be staying - to ask him to explain comments the singer made in the recent documentary, Lord Don't Slow Me Down. 
Katy Perry has spoken about her desire to release her own clothing line. But the singer, who shot to fame with the single 'I Kissed A Girl', said she wasn't in a rush to begin work on the project. 
US rapper Kanye West has reacted angrily over reports which claimed he said he wanted to star in a bisexual porn movie. Writing on his official website, West said people had spread false information after hacking into his MySpace and Gmail email accounts. 
Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and his 20 year-old girlfriend, Ekaterina Ivanova, have denied reports they are expecting a child together. In a joint statement, the pair said the claims, sparked after Ivanova was pictured in a flowing dress, were “ridiculous”.
