Carl Barat has announced details of a UK tour in support of his debut solo album.

The Libertines guitarist will play eleven dates, starting in Brighton on October 15.

Other gigs are scheduled to take place in Cambridge (October 16), Glasgow (21), Manchester (23) and London (27).

Meanwhile, in a message to fans on MySpace, Barat also revealed that he had been writing his memoirs, which will arrive alongside the album in October.

He said the book will “tickle your curiosity if not simply stand to amuse you and invoke laughter, tears and torment (not necessarily in that order)”.

Tickets for Barat's solo gigs go on sale tomorrow (June 18).
