Dizzee Rascal Tipped To Beat Robbie Williams To World Cup Number OneJune 7, 2010
Dizzee Rascal and James Corden’s World Cup song has been tipped to top the UK singles chart.
The charity single, entitled ‘Shout For England’, is 1/3 favourite with bookmakers William Hill. The pair performed the song, which has been organised by Simon Cowell, for the first time on Britain’s Got Talent at the weekend. The 2010 edition of ‘3 Lions’, which features Russell Brand and Robbie Williams, is 4/1, while New Order’s 1990 hit ‘World In Motion’ is 6/1. HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo said: "The pop pairings of Dizzee and Corden and Robbie and Brand each have a genuine chance with their respective releases this summer. “Both are half-decent songs, and they can also expect huge exposure for their singles given their equally massive media profiles.” Other notable odds include rapper K'naan’s ‘Wavin Flag’ at 10/1 and former England manager Terry Venables’s ‘If I Can Dream’ at 20/1. The World Cup in South Africa gets underway on Friday (June 11). (by Jason Gregory) See also: Dizzee Rascal To Star In The New Inbetweeners Sitcom (16.03.2011)
