Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello: 'I Bear Simon Cowell No Ill Will'

December 16, 2009
Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello: 'I Bear Simon Cowell No Ill Will'Tom Morello has confirmed that Rage Against the Machine will donate proceeds from sales of 'Killing In The Name' to charity Youth Music.

The legendary guitarist was interviewed on BBC6music's breakfast show with Shaun Keavney this morning where he spoke of the Facebook led campaign to keep X Factor's Joe McElderry off number one.

Notably upbeat about the prospect of 'Killing In The Name' hitting the Yuletide top spot, Morello explained the he won't profit from the single's sales.

He said: "Me personally, I am going to donate part of my proceeds from the sales to an organisation in the UK called Youth Music, which is the UK’s largest children’s music charity.

"My hope is that one of the results of this whole thing is that there will be a new generation of rockers who will take on the establishment with the music they write."

Asked what he thought about upsetting Simon Cowell, Morello said: “I bear him no ill will. I'm sure he'll do just fine whatever the outcome.”

Cowell, of course, has been less gracious about the chart race calling the Rage campaign “miserable” and “very Scrooge.”

Jon and Tracy Morter, who formed the Facebook group, have set up a justgiving page where Rage lovers can donate to charity Shelter. You can make a pledge HERE.
