The Prodigy: 'We Never Fell Out During Barren Period'

May 11, 2009
The Prodigy: 'We Never Fell Out During Barren Period'The Prodigy's have said the group never fell out before the release of their 2004 album 'Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned'.

Although released under the band's name, the album didn't feature vocalists Keith Flint and Maxim Reality in favour of collaborations.

At the time, the omission led to speculation about the dance act's future.

But in an exclusive interview with Gigwise, the band said a lack of communication and heavy touring had created “some issues”.

“I think we just didn’t communicate,” producer Liam Howlett told Gigwise. “It’s like, obviously frustrating, but I think we’d been on the road for a long time.”

Flint said: “You never fell out. It’s not like someone wrongs someone, like, Maxim caught me in his house stealing his wife’s jewellery and he’s like: ‘Why’d you come round my fucking house?’

“It’s not like that. No one had a bad word to be said – or would have said – about each other.”

Flint added that he hit a “particular low” following touring “because of the contradiction of needing that time off more than anything, but not being able to handle it”.

The Prodigy are currently touring in support of new album 'Invaders Must Die', which marks a return for both vocalists.
