The Killers Told To 'Turn Volume Up' At Reading Festival 2008August 25, 2008
The Killers closed the second day of the Reading Festival this weekend (August 23rd) – but were dogged by sound problems throughout their set.
An army of fans turned out to watch the band make their only UK festival appearance of the year. But many were left disappointed because of the low volume levels, which have been an unfortunate feature of the opening two days of the event on the main stage. The Killers began with ‘For Reasons Unknown’, which saw frontman Brandon Flowers, who was dressed in a glamorous tailored turquoise jacket, take over on bass duties. In addition to their firm fan favourites, such as ‘When You Were Young’ and ‘Mr Brightside’, the group played a number of songs from their recent b-sides compilation ‘Sawdust’. ‘Sweet Talk’ and ‘Tranquilize’, both from the album, were well received, as was an outing for the band’s cover of Joy Division’s ‘Shadowplay’. They also previewed ‘Spaceman’, a song from their forthcoming third album ‘Day And Age’, for the first time in the UK. The bands show ended with an anthemic rendition of ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’, which saw a shower of confetti sprayed into the nights sky. The Killers setlist was:
