Wyclef Jean Calls For Haitian People To Respect Each OtherMarch 31, 2008
Rapper Wyclef Jean has recorded a radio message urging for Haitian people to respect each other.
Speaking in Creole, Jean, who was born in Haiti, addressed the nation by saying: “If you love Wyclef that means you love Haiti. "So you should not be raping women, kidnapping people and children. There can be no excuse for doing so." The former Fugees star’s message has been welcomed by the UN peacekeeping mission in the country. Concerns are growing for Haiti after it emerged that 36 people were abducted in the capital Port-au-Prince during March alone. Jean, who moved to New York when he was nine, was officially made a roving ambassador by the country’s president last year, reports the BBC.
