U2 Fined For Breaking Sound Regulations During Ireland Gigs

November 16, 2009
U2 Fined For Breaking Sound Regulations During Ireland GigsU2 have been fined for breaking sound regulations during their three-night residency at Croke Park in Dublin in July.

The Irish band exceeded the 75 decibel limit imposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on twelve occasions.

Each breach equated to a £3,000 fine for promoters MCD, which amounted to £36,000 in total, according to the Irish Independent.

But the penalty has been described as “paltry” by a local residents' alliance.

Chairman Pat Gates said: "Any fines that do accrue to the city council should be invested back into the local community as they were the ones that put up with it."

U2 played to almost a quarter of a million people during their homecoming gigs.

The shows formed parts of the band's 360 degree world tour, which is due to resume in 2010.
