Bono And Gary Barlow Join Coldplay Onstage At Warchild GigFebruary 19, 2009
Coldplay and the The Killers followed up the BRITS last night by playing a star studded show for Warchild at the Shepherds Bush Empire.
The show started after 11pm as the acts rushed from to the venue from the awards ceremony and both were forced to play shorter sets than expected. However, fans were treated to a number of of special guest appearances including Take That's Gary Barlow joining Coldplay for a rendition of Back For Good. Before Barlows entrance, Chris Martin told the audience: "I think everyone agrees that the band to see at the moment is Take That. “Weve just got back from Japan, lost all the BRITs, its been a shit day frankly, but its going to get better, please welcome Mr Gary Barlow!" He was followed by an impromptu appearance by Bono and The Killers for All These Things That I've Done, a performance so last minute that rehearsals were taking place backstage just moments before. Earlier in the night The Killers kicked off proceedings with a hit laden set with Brandon Flowers lauding fellow headliners Coldplay and thanking the charity organisers. He said: "Thank you for having us, were so honoured to be part of this, War Child has done so many wonderful things. "Its great to be partnered with Coldplay. I remember when I first saw the video for Yellow they were a real inspiration it made me think we had a real chance, so were honoured to be here with them." The Coldplay set list was:
