Rihanna Makes History As She Ends X Factor's Matt Cardle's Chart Reign

January 9, 2011
Rihanna Makes History As She Ends X Factor's Matt Cardle's Chart ReignRihanna made music history this week as she knocked X Factor’s Matt Cardle off the top spot with ‘What’s My Name’ featuring Drake.

The singer has become the first female solo artist to have five number one singles in consecutive years with ‘Only Girl (In The World)' (2010), 'Run This Town' (2009), 'Take A Bow' (2008) and 'Umbrella' (2006).

Rihanna had two more entries in this week’s chart with ‘Only Girl (In The World)’ at number nine, and ‘Who's That Chick’ with David Guetta, at number ten.

The BBC’s Sound Of 2011 winner Jessie J achieved her first top ten hit with ‘Do It Like A Dude’ at number five, and ‘Lights On’ by Katy B featuring Ms Dynamite, was at number four.

Meanwhile, in the album chart, Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ held the number one spot for a second week, selling over 890,000 copies since its release in November.

Plan B's 'The Defamation Of Strictland Banks' and Cee Lo Green's 'The Lady Killer' enjoyed a renewed sales boost, re-entering the top five.
