The Strokes To Release New Album In MarchJanuary 5, 2011
The Strokes have confirmed that their new album will be released in March.
The record, which is still untitled, features ten songs and is currently in the mixing stage. Bassist Nikolai Fraiture revealed details about the follow-up to 2006's 'First Impressions Of Earth' during an appearance on BBC Radio 1 today (January 5). “In terms of progress it's finished, it's recorded, we are in the mixing stage at the moment and it should be out in March,” he told DJ Zane Lowe. Fraiture admitted that it was “very weird” getting back into the studio with his bandmates and described the record as the natural follow-on from The Strokes' second album 'Room On Fire'. “Sonically I feel like it's the album that should have been made between 'Room On Fire' and 'First Impressions Of Earth',” he said. “It has that kind of better produced quality, but still a classic sound.” He also revealed that the group had plans to tour the album but stopped short of committing to a comprehensive world tour. “It's tough with our band because we're five people who have very loud voices, so it's hard to get everything on the same page,” he said. The album will be preceded by a single, which Fraiture said was also still untitled. (by Jason Gregory) See also: The Strokes Joined By Elvis Costello At New York Gig (02.04.2011)
