Morrissey Quashes Rumours Of Smiths ReunionFebruary 12, 2009
Morrissey has reiterated that The Smiths won't be getting back together.
The singer, who releases his new album 'Years Of Refusal' on Monday, said he's not “stuck in the past” and sees his career with The Smiths as very distanced from where he is now. Speaking to Stuart Maconie and BBC Radio 2, the 49-year-old legend said: "People always ask me about reunions and I can't imagine why. It baffles me. "The past seems like a distant place and I'm pleased with that. I feel very much of now." Asked whether he is that same person who recorded 'This Charming Man' 26 years ago, he joked: "I hope to God I'm not. I'd be pretty backward because so much time has passed." Elsewhere in the interview, Mozza admitted that the recording process is a very self gratifying process, saying: "I just sing the songs that please me and I don't try to please anyone else. I don't ask people what they think about them." (by Scott Colothan) See also: Morrissey Agrees With Johnny Marr Over David Cameron (21.04.2011)
