Bruno Mars Scores UK Album And Singles Chart Double

January 23, 2011
Bruno Mars Scores UK Album And Singles Chart DoubleBruno Mars has topped the UK album and singles charts, according to the Official Charts Company.

The US singer’s debut album ‘Doo Wops & Hooligans’ entered number one, while his single 'Grenade' stays top for a second week.

Mars is the first solo male act to achieve the chart double since 2007, when Mika’s ‘Life in Cartoon Motion’ and single ‘Grace Kelly’ were simultaneous number ones.

The last American solo male act to achieve the double was Akon back in 2005 with album ‘Trouble’ and single ‘Lonely’.

In a busy week of new entries on the singles chart, Adele’s ‘Rolling In The Deep’ debuted at number two and P Diddy’s Diddy Dirty Money’s ‘Coming Home’ was at number four.

Wretch 32’s debut single ‘Traktor’ featuring L was at number five, while Britney Spears scored her 21st singles Chart Top 10 hit with ‘Hold It Against Me’ at number six.

Meanwhile, in the album chart, White Lies new album ‘Ritual’ debuted at number three.
