ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons Travelled To O2 Arena Show By TubeNovember 3, 2009
ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons decided to travel to the band's show at London's O2 Arena last Wednesday by tube - only for it to break down after one stop.
The bearded wonder thought that it would be a good idea to do the tourist thing and hop on the Circle line to the show, but fell victim to one of London Underground's most unreliable lines. The 59-year-old explains: "Being the consummate tourist, I wanted to ride the Tube. "Someone said, 'you know it may not be that bad of an idea because travel in London has not been known for its expedient way to get from A to B'. "And off I went - it's a only a block from the hotel down to the station, and no sooner had I bought the ticket the agent informed me that the Circle Line had broken down." Fortunately, he switched lines at Baker Street and got to the O2 Arena on time. He continued to the BBC: "There was a guy on the route that was checking me out and it was getting a little edgy, and then I realised that he was looking at a ZZ Top concert ticket for the Wembley show.” Quizzed as to whether he'd ride it again, Gibbons added: "Well, I may in the future. I beat my partners by 45 minutes." (by Scott Colothan) See also: ZZ Top Recording New Album With Rick Rubin (16.09.2010)
