The Beatles 'A Day In The Life' Lyric Sheet Fetches $1.2M

The original handwritten lyric sheet for The Beatles 'A Day In The Life' has fetched $1.2million at auction.

The lyrics, written by John Lennon on a double-sided sheet of paper, sold for well above the original estimate at Sotherby's in New York.

The Lennon-McCartney song was the final track on the Beatles' 1967 album 'Sgt Pepper'.

The lyric sheet had previously belonged to the Liverpool band's road manager Mal Evans, reports the BBC.

In 2005, the lyric sheet for the Beatles' 'All You Need Is Love' fetched $1million at auction.
