Ian Brown Opens Up About 'Hard' Period Following Stone Roses SplitOctober 1, 2009
Ian Brown has revealed he found it hard to return to normal life following the Stone Roses split.
The singer moved back in with his parents after the Manchester band's separation in the mid-90s. In an interview with the Guardian, Brown said he found the experience difficult because fans still approached him in the street. “It was hard. I was skint and I had to move back to my mum and dad's house, back into the room I shared with my brother when I was a kid,” he said. “I kept getting people on the streets telling me that they loved me: it didn't mean anything to me because I was still borrowing tenners off my pensioner father to go and get some chicken.” Brown, who now performs solo, added that constant talk of a Stone Roses reunion “doesn't eat me up, but it's not my favourite subject”. The singer showcased new album 'My Way' at an intimate London gig on Monday. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Clint Boon Confirms Stone Roses Reunion (07.04.2011)
