Laughing Beatles Recording Sold For 9,800 PoundsAugust 6, 2008
A recording of Sir Paul McCartney and John Lennon laughing candidly together has sold for £9,800 at auction.
The tape, which is believed to have been recorded in 1964, features a studio version of the Beatles hit 'I'll Follow The Sun'. During the recording of the song, Lennon says to McCartney: "I'm not looking at you," which prompts McCartney to tell him he was. Lennon then tells McCartney that “it's just going to get funnier and funnier as the evening goes on,” to which McCartney replies: "Let's just try this once more and if it's the last one that's hard lines." The 30-minute recording, which was discovered in the North of England, was sold at the Cameo auction house to an anonymous online bidder.
